Connect Hyperliquid to NickAI
NickAI trades on Hyperliquid through an API wallet, which Hyperliquid also calls an agent wallet. An API wallet can place and cancel orders on behalf of your account but has no withdrawal permission. Your funds stay in your main account.
Before you start
- You need a new API wallet for NickAI. Wallets already listed on Hyperliquid's API page cannot be reused: their private key was shown once, when they were authorized, and is not recoverable.
- The key is shown once. Copy it before you close the dialog. If you lose it, remove that wallet on Hyperliquid and generate another.
- API wallets expire. The "Valid Until" column on Hyperliquid's API page is a hard limit. When it passes, workflows using the credential stop trading until you add a new wallet.
Authorize an API wallet
- Open app.hyperliquid.xyz/API ↗ with your trading account connected. For testnet, use app.hyperliquid-testnet.xyz/API ↗ instead.
- Enter a name you will recognise later, for example
nickai, and click Generate. Hyperliquid fills in the API wallet address. - Click Authorize API Wallet. Set Days Valid, then copy the Private Key from the red box before clicking Authorize. Confirm the transaction in your wallet.
- Copy your account address from the 0x… chip in the top-right corner of Hyperliquid. Click it to copy the full address.
Add the credential
- In NickAI, open Settings > Credentials and add a Hyperliquid credential. Use Trade XYZ for the HIP-3 DEX; it uses the same API wallet.
- Paste the private key into API Wallet Private Key. NickAI derives the wallet address under the field. It should match the address in your Hyperliquid API wallet list.
- Paste your account address into Main Account Address.
- Tick Testnet Mode only if you authorized the wallet on the testnet app.
- Click Add Credential. NickAI asks Hyperliquid whether that account has authorized that wallet before saving anything. If the check fails, nothing is stored and the form says why.
Keep the private key out of prompts, workflow text, and reports. NickAI encrypts it at rest and never displays it again.
When something fails
- "This account has not authorized API wallet …" — the Main Account Address is not the account you authorized from, the authorization transaction did not complete, or you are on the wrong network. Re-check the chip address and the API wallet list.
- "API wallet … expired" — generate and authorize a new wallet, then edit the credential with the new key.
- "Not a valid private key" — the paste is incomplete. The key is 64 hex characters, with or without a
0xprefix.
